TRAVEL & TOURISM BTEC Nationals
The BTEC Level 3 (Extended Certificate A level equivalent) in Travel and Tourism requires applied learning that brings together knowledge and understanding together with practical and technical skills.
You will discover the significance of the tourism industry to the UK economy, learn about the appeal of different global destinations and develop an understanding of the vital role marketing plays in promoting tourism in creative ways.
Year 1 National Certificate
Unit 1 The World of Travel and Tourism
Unit 3 The Principles of Marketing in Travel and Tourism
Year 2 Extended Certificate
Unit 2 Global Destinations
One further unit to be confirmed.
Assessment is a combination of coursework and examinations.
Year 1 National Certificate – one exam, one coursework
Year 2 Extended Certificate – one exam, one coursework
Exams are a mixture of case studies requiring a response in short and longer style answers.
Assignments/coursework usually comprise an element of research, producing an individual report.
What can I do at the end of the course?
Learners who have completed this qualification may progress to further learning at Level 3, for example a larger-size BTEC National in the Business/Tourism/IT sector. The qualification carries UCAS points and is recognised by universities alongside other Level 3 qualifications as part of a programme of learning. Progression can be direct to an honours degree or to a Higher National, a Foundation Degree, or a Higher Apprenticeship.
